Bowls Club News Update

Dear Members

Our weekly “Roll Ups and Club Nights” are still proving popular with good attendance from many of you so thank you all! My thanks go to Susan, Mike Mc, Trevor, Colin and Sue and others who help organise these sessions. Likewise our Saturday Morning League for the more experienced bowlers is regularly attended with a League Table closely contested. Thanks go to Dereck, Neil and others who help run this popular League.

Our Internal Club Competitions are in full swing with some excellent bowling and closely fought games. Check the diary but many of these matches are well worth watching and supporting. The Competitions positions are on the notice board but are also updated by our web Co-ordinator Ade each week, click on Fixtures and Competitions and then on the individual competitions to see how players are progressing. Remember a date for your diaries is our Finals Day Saturday 2nd  September 10-5pm, to watch and support these competitions Finals! Interestingly some players who enter are part of our 10 club members who work, yes work, “full time”, 5 work “part time” and another 6-8 of us busy with voluntary and charity work. To some members they see some new faces around the club, when actually these players have been around for years. They often bowl after 6pm or weekends because of their work commitments. Both Men and Ladies are also involved in NFBA and NFWBA competitions as well as Bowls Hampshire, B&D and The Nationals at regional level. These games often see some real high level bowlers coming to our club but our players have acquitted themselves in these games really well which is great!

Our friendly matches have been well supported and enjoyed with big thanks to “Match Secretary“ Keith for his organisation and skills and after home match catering!

Lyndhurst Club League Matches continue with the Mens 2 Teams having only 3 games left in NFBA and Ladies a few more matches until early September! Congratulations go to all the players who commit each week and the rewards are currently excellent League positions for all our Teams. Likewise the new venture into the Bournemouth and District Saturday morning mixed Triples League has been a big success with a good league position in our division! Well done to you all.

Grateful thanks go to all of you for your volunteering on our Sunday Morning (once a season) “Cleaning Rota”. This really has meant our club facilities are looking clean and tidy which is pleasant for us all to enjoy! Please Check the Rota (if you haven’t done yours yet) on the Notice Board for your turn coming up.

Bowling Nets. Now the weather has cooled a little and we have had some rain, can I remind members to use “Nets” when soft to stop your woods taking divots and to protect our excellent Green. This is very important, thank you.

Many Socials Events are continuing with the Pasties and Pirates this Wednesday and lots more events coming up so keep a look out for other special notices posted on email, or under “News” on the web site on these events and also on the socials notice board in the clubhouse, thank you.

Finally a massive welcome to our 13 (yes great news) “New Joining Members” to our Club. We welcome you all and, to regular members, please help them out with procedures both on and off the green and introduce yourselves. Tell them about registering for these blogs, our website and where to find out various things. We hope you all enjoy our great club!!!

Thank you
John H
