As part of our 80th anniversary celebrations inn 2008, two club members contacted the Royal Hospital Chelsea Bowling Club and we were delighted that the Chelsea Pensioners (pictured right) accepted our invitation to Lyndhurst.

 

The Chelsea Pensioners, as always, were dressed immaculately in their uniforms on arrival, and these were only removed for the “more relaxed” casual bowling look when they took to the green. A great day was had by all at the club, including those who bowled on the day, spectators, club officials and guests. The result?  Well that did not matter.  It was described by all who attended as “really good fun, excellent company and a great day.”

To round off a very fitting day and thanks to some splendid catering by club members, our guests enjoyed a meal after the game in the adjoining Social Club, along with many of our club members.
