Coaching/Bowls Advice/Help

Thursday 26th August 2021 starting at 2pm, (for about an hour to an hour and a half) casual dress, bring your woods or borrow from club. Open To All of our Club Members.

Our retired Coach and Honorary Member Mike Harland is offering his vast experience, knowledge and assistance with an “Open to All” Session at the Club. This will be from how to roll a wood, methods and techniques, bowling action, etiquette/rules and much more! Mike will give a “brief talk” overview followed by outside on the Green demonstrations where Mike will be helped by experienced Club Players. Q and A’s welcome of course. After the talk there will be time to go out and practice. This is a marvellous way of learning some basics around the game of Lawn Bowls! Mike, who was a Qualified Coach in his day, has helped so many players at our Club with his excellent coaching and tips over the years that many of us, including myself, have a lot to be very grateful for. He is very keen to help, not just new members/bowlers but any players, Lady or Gent wishing to listen and come along! We are very grateful for his kind offer, especially as he has some on-going medical issues. Mike is probably our most successful bowler in our Club’s long history and is a legend to most so lets take advantage of his very generous offer! List of names please in the clubhouse if you are interested in this valuable session, bring a notebook/pen if you want.

The Bridle Trophy

Sunday 29th August starting at 1030 for 11am start, an All day event. Bring your lunch and drinks or purchase at the club.

(Full details of this Internal Club Trophy are on the next Post!)

Internal Club Competitions 2019 Winners!

If you were a Club Competition Winner in 2019 (not played in 2020) please can you return your Trophy (cleaned and polished) that you won asap to our Captain Adrian Goddard. He needs them for our Finals Day in early September. Please contact Adrian or John H to physically pass the trophy over; DO NOT leave them in the Clubhouse, as they are valuable.

Cleaning Rota

We have on the Club Notice Board a Cleaning Rota for names of those willing to help with some small cleaning tasks!

Naturally our Clubhouse/Pavilion/Changing Rooms and Toilets do not clean themselves. It is down to good will and volunteers wishing to help out a little. This is not an onerous task at all and doesn’t take hours! The list is looking a little sparse at present. Please could you pop your names down, male/female or couples to help us out a little bit please? We would be truly grateful for your assistance here!!!!

Thank you John H (President)

PS Thanks go to all members for supporting our “Two Themed Club Night Events” They have been brilliantly attended and successful and makes the Club and the organisers very happy! If you didn’t or could not attend those nights we have The BBQ as advertised coming up
