LSSC, Car Park Re Surfacing and Repairs
Unfortunately the main car park of the Lyndhurst Sports and Social Club of which the bowls club is part (Lyndhurst Bowling Club, Lyndhurst Tennis Club and Lyndhurst Drama and Music Society) has to be resurfaced and repaired asap. The Clubs and their Insurance Companies have identified that it is un-safe and does not meet current health and safety requirements. Basically the car park is worn-out and has suffered wear and tear due to not having been properly maintained over time.
Your committee has been working on this for the last 18 months, together with the other two clubs. We have been trying to sort out the problem and get the best possible result on permissions, cost and construction on this project. I can confirm that all permissions have now been granted – NFNPA and HCC – and, with an approved contractor appointed, we are ready to go for the start of work in September or early October. Our daily use of the 8-9 car parking spaces of this car park is vital for us as members, even though it is mainly only for 6 months of the year. Without it, parking for all three clubs and our visitors would be very difficult indeed. As you can imagine this type of project does not come cheap and we are looking to raise £4.000 from each club to complete this work. I would not normally – and we as a committee would not normally – appeal for extra funds in this way. Actually, the last time we asked members to help raise special funds was with the building of our current changing rooms nearly 20 years ago! In other words, this is a very rare option which we always try to avoid.
Our Appeal to members is:
Please, without any pressure whatsoever on anybody, if you feel you could help this project along with a donation then this would be very much appreciated by the Bowling Club. If you do feel able to support this project this would be hugely appreciated by all at the club. The best way to donate is to click on this GoFundMe link and then follow the instructions. The Drama Club launched a similar appeal, earlier this year, which has already helped raise funds towards the project and the Tennis Club are setting funds aside. If you do no wish to donate via GoFundMe we would of course accept any cheque payable to Lyndhurst Bowling Club or a cash donation, which can be passed to me as President privately, or given directly to our treasurer.
I’m happy to discuss this appeal with our valued members in person, of course. I will be in a position at our AGM in November to update you all on the progress of this appeal, by which time we hope that the work will be completed, ready for the 2019 season.
Sincerely,
John Howell,
Club President
