Dear Members
I am delighted to report that our newish current 2021 Club Committee is working well for the benefit of ALL members and are keen to carry on (if elected at the AGM) into 2022. However we are looking for a couple of positions to fill for the 2022 season to be nominated and seconded. We already have a nomination proposed and seconded for a new role of Social Secretary, in Neil Calderwood. This is great news, but we would welcome the below vacancies too.
Match Secretary
This position is looking after our Friendly Fixtures, usually between 5-7 matches maximum per season. Overseeing with help, the “Bridle Trophy” and “Mixed Pairs Events “ each year. The position would suit any member who enjoys the Mixed Friendly games and enjoys seeing fellow members attending and joining in. Mike McCrossan, who is also our Club Treasurer has been in this role for a few years but clearly needs somebody, Lady or Gent. to take over. Mike is happy, as I am to speak to any member stepping forward or who may be interested. This is an enjoyable role and does not mean you’ll have to attend all friendly matches or events; a Captain for the day can be nominated.
Ladies Captain
The committee and club are looking for a Ladies Captain. The position involves looking after, with assistance, all Ladies League Teams, selection, coordinating players around League matches and liaising with the Ladies Secretary and committee. Ideally it would suit any Lady player who feels they would help support the teams. Currently Susan Barnes has been holding the position with help but naturally with Susan as Vice President, Ladies Vice Captain and also organising Roll Ups each week she needs a bit of a break. That said Susan is of course willing to help and support any interested member or speak to them in private, as I am who may be interested in the role to help in supporting their club and the ladies teams.
Please if you think you might be able to help your club then speak to myself, any committee member, or those mentioned above your committee would make you very welcome indeed. Any nominations (with approval from applicant) can be forwarded to our Club Secretary, Colin Firth (cfafirth[AT]yahoo[dot]co[dot]uk) by the 18th October, for the committee’s attention and before the Club AGM. All nominations if approved can then be voted on in block at the AGM by the members.
The Club AGM and Presentation Evening
This will take place on Thursday 25th November, at The Lyndhurst Community Centre at 7pm.
