Corona Virus and Bowling

Important Information for Lyndhurst Bowling Club Members.

An update and news from your club you probably have been expecting in the current crisis.

In line with advice from Bowls England, Bowls Hampshire and our two New Forest Associations, our Bowling Club is now closed until further notice. This has been a full committee decision. It means the grounds, clubhouse, changing rooms, toilets and equipment shed are all “Out of Bounds” Please do not come to our club we are seeking your full co-operation in these very serious and extraordinary times. There is to be NO Bowling, NO use of the Green. The Green” however will be maintained and our three green keepers, Steve, Ray and Adrian will be permitted to be at the club for cutting and maintenance purposes. Also a small number of committee members will check regularly on our club for security, utilities and any urgent work required.

I am very sorry indeed to be the bearer of this sad news, but I’m sure in a period of National Crisis like this you will all understand. The health of us all takes precedence over recreational and competitive bowling. All National, County and New Forest (Mens and Ladies) Competitions are cancelled for 2020. League bowling with NFBA and NFWBA is suspended, but the Mens’ Executive are reviewing the situation in early June and the Ladies in July. Our club pre season league friendly matches in April are cancelled for ladies and men and Club friendlies for May (others to be reviewed later) All Club Lyndhurst Club Internal Competitions are cancelled for 2020. Our early April club program of working party, green opening day, practices and arranged coaching are also cancelled. The May “Open Day” is cancelled with a review later about the June “Open Day”. The VE Day Event in Lyndhurst is also cancelled, nobody needed thank you.

Naturally your committee will keep the situation under constant review and if and when its safe to do so hope, like all of us, that some bowling this season may be possible. In respect of membership fees paid this year, again this will be looked at carefully, when we know more information. No face to face committee meetings will take place until its safe to do so. The committee however will keep everybody fully posted of course, by way of email blogs and on our website. I would please ask you to pass this message and its content onto any of our members who are not on the “Net” or do not get these blog emails. This message will appear in the News Section of our Club Website.

Thank you for your understanding, I am happy to speak to any member if required.

John (President)

Just a quickie from me. We all know it’s a shame that the season is really curtailed for the foreseeable future but at the end of the day the important thing is we all avoid this 🦠.and I hope to see all you bowlers when we can get on the green again.STAY WELL👍
